Thats my own concept of my job - Arming her with the tools she needs to succeed on her own, and making course corrections along the way. When you think about it - if I taught my daughter only what I knew, no matter how knowledgable I was - I'd be limiting her severely. - Joan Taylor, homeschool mom

ThePerfectEducationNetwork

The Perfect Education Network.

I have considered carefully what the "perfect" school network would and should look like. My own perception and goal and direction has changed significantly since I first began my set out on this quest and began to explore this ideas. and for this reason I feel that any successful implementation needs to be flexible, extensible and above all modern. Modern, in thought, utility and functionality.

The above ideas are neither boundary's or limitations and only serve as ideals with which to start. The perfect network demands much more than these. Who should benefit from the "perfect network?" Anyone and everyone who comes into contact with or chooses to interact with the network should be advantaged by what is offered. No doubt in time "do gooders" will provide reasons why some groups or individuals should have privilege or power above another however I don't intent to got wast words on this subject at this time.

This document provides information and suggestions about how to manage an support school networks

Apple Linux or Windows

This debate continues, although I am a Unix Expert, I choose to set up the school I work for using Windows 2003 to ensure that others would be able to support the network if required, however if I had to do it all again I would most likely choose linux as the base platform.

Networking

Choose the Best Network Infrastructure you can afford. Layer 2 switches are important because they will allow you to manage you routes later.
